Rhinos: No. 64 Lin Wei Ting (3), Lin Wei Ting (4)
Brothers: No. 96 Su Wei Da (1)
Game Notes:
- Brothers 3B Chiang Chih Hsien finished the game 0-for-1 and saw his record-tying 21-game hit streak to start a season come to a halt. Chiang had one last chance in the bottom of ninth but EDA reliever Kuo Sheng An stayed away from the league leader in home runs with four straight balls. No. 11 got his revenge though, as he would score the game-winning run after taking two bases on an errant pickoff throw from Kuo and a game-winning single from Su Wei Da. The record is now shared with Chiang and Zheng Xing Sheng, who established the record in 1990.
- Chiang Chih Hsien also saw his 39-game hit streak, dating back to last year, snapped.
- Brothers game MVP Su Wei Da hit his first CPBL home run and the game-winning single.
- No. 32 Lin Chih Sheng's assault on Ted Williams' 84-game on-base streak will have to wait until next week or longer because he is currently day-to-day with a hand injury that he sustained Saturday night. Lin has reached base safely in 82 straight games.
- Brothers closer No. 17 Chen Hung Wen was credited with his third win of the season but he blew the save opportunity as he allowed a game-tying solo shot to Lin Wei Ting in the top of the ninth. Chen has four saves this year as well as three blown saves.
- Brothers SS No. 14 Wang Sheng Wei is on a 24-game on-base streak and an 11-game hit streak.
- The Brothers lead the season series 6-3
Game time: 03:01
Attendance: 8,501
What the Rhinos did was absolutely disgrace to deny Chiang Chih-hsien to break the record which known among the local fans as "Shark Barrier" by BB and intentional walk him to 1B.
ReplyDeleteIt was an unsporting conduct on EDA's part that angered many fans.
It's unfortunate that he didn't really get a chance to get a hit. But, in EDA's defense, they had a ball game to win. And without Lin Chih Sheng in the lineup, why throw a strike to Chiang when Su in on deck?
