Box Score & Game Highlights

Game Notes:
  • Brothers SS Wang Sheng Wei hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to bust open a one-run game. He has just two home runs on the season and they've come in the past two games. He also scored his 500th career CPBL run.
  • With a home run in the second, Brothers second baseman Lin Chih Sheng extended his professional baseball on-base record to 99 games, dating back to last season. He also has an 11-game hit streak on the go and has at least one RBI in five straight.
  • The Brothers scored 10 unanswered runs after Lamigo jumped out to a 5-1 lead.
  • Brothers SP Nate Long, making his second career CPBL start, didn't get much defensive help as two errors behind him led to three unearned runs. His final line: 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K.
  • Brothers 3B and league leader in home runs No. 11 Chiang Chih Hsien was not in the lineup for a seventh straight game. He pulled something in his back while swinging too hard on May 15
  • Lamigo LF Wang Po Jung extended his hitting streak to nine games and stole his league-leading 11th base.
  • Monkeys Lin Zhi Ping had his 12-game hit streak snapped.
  • Lamigo SP Greg Smith was cruising until the fifth when the Brothers struck for four runs. His final line: 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K.
  • The game started an hour late due to a rain delay.
  • Lamigo leads the season series 7-6-2 (yes, they've tied twice).

  1. While many credited the grand slammer by Wang Sheng-wei as the key of the win earlier, I, personally, felt this perseverance by Peng Cheng-min in the bottom fifth for sprinted to the second base laid the foundation for the victory.

While it wasn't as bad as on last weekend, Nate Long still have some rooms for improvement and perhaps, Morey should have shave earlier :)
