The Lamigo Monkeys have released starting pitcher Greg Smith, the Liberty Times is reporting.
Smith appeared in nine games for the Monkeys, starting eight, compiling a 1-5 record with an 8.46 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP. The southpaw allowed 15 walks while striking out 31 batters over 44.2 innings. He also led the team with nine home runs allowed.
Newly signed left-hander Efrain Nieves will take Smith's spot on the roster. The Monkeys also have Ryan Searle and Orlando Roman as their other import players.
He becomes the second Monkeys import player and the seventh import player to leave the league in 2016:
