CPBL Midseason Awards: Offensive MVP

With the first half of the 2016 CPBL season coming to an end, we decided to ask a few members of the media some questions about the year so far, and what to expect in the second half. This is part one of a six-part series.

Who was the first-half offensive MVP?

Rob Liu, CPBL Reddit
Chinatrust Brothers 2B No. 32 Lin Chih Sheng. “Lin is a natural-born leader, apart from improving the team’s chemistry on and off the field. With him in the lineup definitely helps protect No. 16 Chou Ssu Chi and No. 11 Chiang Chih Hsien.”

Travis Wu, Now News
Chinatrust Brothers 2B No. 32 Lin Chih Sheng. “He’s the clean-up hitter on the half-season champions. His 19 home runs tied the half-season record, and his 68 RBI and .390 average are also great numbers.”

Josh Inglis, CPBL English
Chinatrust Brothers 2B No. 32 Lin Chih Sheng. “On-base machine, legitimate Triple Crown threat.”

Brandon DuBreuil, CPBL English
Chinatrust Brothers 2B No. 32 Lin Chih Sheng. “A 109-game on-base streak is simply ridiculous. Plus he’s tied for the league lead in home runs, RBI and total bases and he’s second in average.”

Well, it’s unanimous: Lin Chih Sheng is the CPBL first-half offensive MVP.
