Report: Lamigo Monkeys Sign Zack Segovia

The Lamigo Monkeys have signed pitcher Zack Segovia, according to multiple reports from the Mexican League including his previous club. Lamigo has yet to confirm the signing, however.

Segovia, 33, played in the CPBL last season with the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions. He went 2-3 with a 6.16 ERA in 14 appearances, mostly out of the bullpen.

In 2016 he has been pitching with Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican League where he went 3-4 with a 2.97 ERA in 40 games out of the bullpen. He also had 37 strikeouts and 10 walks over 39.1 innings pitched.

The native of Dallas, Texas, also played for Team USA at the WBSC Premier12 last November. He started two games, winning both and allowing just one earned run over 11 innings.

Segovia was originally a second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies back in 2002. He made his MLB debut in 2007, making just one appearance. He then made eight appearances with Washington in 2009. He has a career MLB record of 1-1 with an 8.22 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP.

No word yet on a corresponding move from the Lamigo Monkeys, meaning they currently four import pitchers on their roster: Segovia, Orlando Roman, Efrain Nieves and Mitch Talbot.
