Report: Chinatrust Brothers Sign Bruce Kern

The Chinatrust Brothers have signed pitcher Bruce Kern, according to the president and GM of the Long Island Ducks Michael Pfaff.

Kern is a 28-year-old right-hander who hails from Brookhaven, New York. He was a 23rd-round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies in 2010 but never made an appearance in the MLB. He has spent the past two seasons pitching with the Ducks in the Atlantic League.

In 2016, Kern has a 4-1 record with an impressive 2.17 ERA over 62.1 innings. He has struck out 61 batters and walked 18.

The move means the Brothers now have four import pitchers on their roster, as Kern joins Robert Morey, Nate Long and Bryan Woodall. A corresponding move will have to be made once Kern is ready to join the Brothers' first team.

  1. With the Brothers pitchers struggling to compliment their batters' form, it will be a wonder if their big spending would eventually yield any result at the end of the year and we are also unsure if Kern is ready (if confirmed) for action like how Mike McClendon stunned everyone on his debut last year.
