Home Runs

Game Notes:
  • The Brothers took advantage of a two-out bases-clearing Cheng Da Hong double that was misplayed by Rhinos left-fielder Hu Chin Lung. The defensive miscue was scored a hit and put the Brothers up 4-1. The Brothers would chase Rhinos starter Mike Loree later in the inning and would put up a six-spot in the frame.
  • The Rhinos made things close in the eighth as they beat up on the Brothers bullpen and eventually had the game-tying run on second. Brothers' RP Chen Kai Wen was ineffective and coughed up three earned runs which brought in Brothers' closer Chen Hung Wen. Chen would record the final out of the stressful inning and go 1-2-3 in the ninth to secure the win in the opening game of the series.
  • Brothers SP Bryan Woodall did everything he could to give his team a 1-0 series lead. The consistent righty gave up just eight hits over his seven-strong innings before handing the ball over to a bullpen that almost blew an 8-1 lead. Look for Woodall to go Game 4 or Game 5 for the Brothers next.
  • Rhinos starter Mike Loree lasted less than four innings in the loss. The Rhinos are going to need their ace to bounce back in what will probably be a Game 4 start.
  • In a losing cause, the middle of the Rhinos lineup was a force. Lin Yi Chuan finished 3-for-4 with two homers and Lin Che Hsuan went 4-for-5.
  • With an attendance of over 20,000, it marks the highest attended Taiwan Series game in CPBL history.
  • The Brothers lead the best-of-seven series 1-0. Game 2 goes tomorrow at 5:05.
Attendance: 20,000
Game time: 3:45

Comments

  1. It is definitely a whole new ball game in the "Taiwan Series". Thought Loree had a better performance than Woodall before the floodgates opened the bottom fourth. Also I thought the Rhinos had a better bullpen deployment as compared to that of Brothers who nearly lost in the eighth.
