Game Notes:
  • Rhinos SP Mike Loree, the regular-season leader in wins and ERA, proved why he's the best pitcher in Taiwan tonight, dominating the vaunted Brothers offense over six-plus innings. The Rhinos won their third straight game and now lead the Taiwan Series 3-2.
  • The Rhinos got on the board with three in the second inning thanks to an RBI groundout from No. 22 Lee Tsung Hsien and RBI singles from No. 15 Hu Chin Lung and No. 1 Lin Che Hsuan. They added two in the fourth, one in the sixth and five in the eighth. 
  • There might be some cause for concern for the Rhinos as slugger No. 28 Kao Kuo Hui was seen clutching his leg numerous times after injuring it legging out a triple. Kao finished the evening 2-for-5 with two RBI. He was lifted for a pinch-runner late in the eighth inning. 
  • Rhinos 1B Lin Yi Chuan has a 10-game hit streak in the Taiwan Series.

  • The Brothers made another error tonight, giving them five in the last three games. The shortstop position was particularly bad tonight as starter Wang Sheng Wei bobbled three balls hit his way and his replacement Pan Ding Shan committed the only official error. 
  • The defensive play of the game goes to Rhinos 2B Lin Wei Ting for chasing down Brothers' Lin Chih Sheng as he attempted to get caught in a run down to allow the runner from third to score (video below). He dives to tag Lin just before the run crosses the plate, denying the Brothers the first run of the game. 
  • The Rhinos lead the best-of-seven series 3-2. Game 6 goes Saturday, 5:05 p.m. in Taichung. Probable starters are Jared Lansford for the Rhinos and Nick Additon for the Brothers.
