- Monkeys SP Zeke Spruill took center stage by starting off his CPBL career with a bang. Tossing seven masterful innings (2 H, 7 K), Spruill did not give up a hit until the sixth inning and was in the driver’s seat all night long en route to game MVP honors. Monkeys relievers Lin Po-Yu and Chen Yu-Hsun completed the shutout, securing the Monkeys' first win of the season.
- Aided by two fielding errors, the Monkeys offense did most of their damage in a three-run fifth inning. Third baseman Liang Chia-Jung (2-for-3, 2 RBI) came through with a bases-loaded, two-run single to right field. Lions SP Bruce Billings was eventually chased in the inning after giving up three runs (2 ER) in 4.2 innings (2 H, 3 BB, 6 K).
- Monkeys 1B Chu Yu-Hsien (1-for-2, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB) hit his first home run of the season with a solo shot in the sixth inning.
