Game Notes:
  • After Chou Ssu-Chi's sac-fly in the bottom of the eighth put the Brothers ahead 3-2, manager Cory Snyder went with reliever No. 20 Chiang Chung-Cheng instead of usual closer Chen Hung-Wen in the ninth. Chiang retired the Guardians in order, making what is usually a roller coaster of emotions with Chen seem like a walk in the park for Chiang. The Brothers were also helped out by the long ball as Tseng Tao-Jung hit his 11th while CPBL home run leader Chiang Chih-Hsien belted his 13th. Reliever Lin Ko-Chien picked up his first win of the year with his two scoreless innings of work. 
  • Coming off of a dominating seven-inning performance that saw him blank the Lions last week, Guardians starter Mike Loree allowed a pair of solo home runs in a no-decision Tuesday night in Taichung. The right-hander went seven strong frames striking out an even 10 batters while giving up just the two runs on six hits. He is currently sporting a 1.89 ERA and 0.90 WHIP and is in great form after an oblique injury sidelined him early in the year. 
  • Brothers SP Cheng Chi-Hung settled down after a rough first inning that saw the Guardians score twice on three hits including a Kao Hsiao-Yi two-run homer. Cheng would finish six innings in the no-decision, allowing just those two runs while walking four and striking out four. 
  • After he allowed the game-tying home run on his first pitch of Sunday's matinee, Brothers closer Chen Hung-Wen was not called into action with a one-run lead in the ninth. 
  • Brothers OF Chang Cheng-Wei has raised his on-base streak to 31 games. 
  • Guardians 2016 first-round draft pick No. 6 Shen Hao-Wei has now hit safely in each of his three games with the big club. Playing in right field today, Shen went 1-for-4 and is hitting .333. 
  • The Guardians have lost five in a row.
