Game Notes:

  • In what can only be described as a typical CPBL game of baseball (poor defense, head-scratching plays and multiple lead changes), Brothers' Chang Chih-Hao would put the game to rest as his two-out walk-off hit into the gap in right-center field in the bottom of the 10th scored two runs and earned a win for the Brothers, who nearly threw another game away due to a plethora of miscues. The Brothers mustered the 10th-inning comeback off Fubon's closer Kuo Hung-Chih as they used two singles and walk to load the bases before Chang's game winner. The Brothers will look to win the three-game series tomorrow.
  • Lin Che-Hsuan delivered an extra-inning go-ahead single in the 10th. The one-out RBI single put Fubon up 5-4 but wouldn't be enough in the end.
  • The Brothers tied up the game in the eighth on a wild pitch (what else) and then, keeping with the theme of the game, failed to score the go-ahead run with the bases loaded and none out. Cory Snyder was probably not enthused as his batters went F2, F7 (no tag at third) and 4-3 to end the frame.
  • Although none were actually ruled an error (more on that later), the Brothers threw away Rick Teasley's gem in the seventh inning on a trio of blunders, all with two out. First, the Brothers failed to tag out Li Tsung-Hsien in a routine rundown after he was picked off trying to steal second. Second, the new corner infield duo of Hsu Chi-Hung and Chen Tzu-Hung couldn't end the frame as Hsu short hopped a throw to first on an easy chopper and Chen couldn't pick it. Last, a routine pop up/fly ball was dropped by Chang Chih-Hao with shortstop Wang Sheng-Wei standing nearby.
  • Brothers SP Rick Teasley didn't allow a hit until the sixth inning. He was stuck with a no-decision though, going 6.2 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out six. It was a dominant outing for the lefty and the box score doesn't tell the real story.
  • Brothers SS Wu Tung-Jung was removed from the game after falling down and injuring himself during the previously mentioned rundown.
  • The fact that the second and third gaffes we highlighted in the seventh inning weren't recorded as errors is just all kinds of wrong and, unfortunately, is a reoccurring theme in the CPBL. With the Brothers already committing three errors before the meltdown, perhaps the scorers didn't want to embarrass the players, the team, or maybe even the league itself. Either way, wake up and do your jobs and just score the game like it is supposed to be scored because it's not fair to the players who those runs are charged to.
