- Who would have thought? The underdog Chinatrust Brothers upsets the first-and-second-half champs by a score of 8-5. After the defeat, the Chinatrust Brothers tied the series at one game apiece with the Lamigo Monkeys , who were awarded with a one-game advantage by winning both first and second half, at one game apiece.
- Brothers' import starter Bryan Woodall pitched a gem tonight in Game 1 of the Taiwan Series, allowing only two earned runs in seven innings. He fanned four Lamigo batters and issued no walks.
- The 39-year-old veteran first baseman Peng Cheng-Min led the charge of the Brothers' offense by going 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run. Peng's all-time 112 total bases and 39 runs in Taiwan Series sets the CPBL record.
- Lamigo kicked things off early in the bottom of the first, scoring the first run of the game when their cleanup hitter, Lin Hung-Yu, hit a sac fly to center to score the leadoff hitter, Lan Yin-Lun, who went 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs in Game 1.
- Brothers did "bounce back" in the top of the second when Chen Tzu-Hao hit a double to left to bring home two runners, who reached bases on an error and a walk. Later in the inning, Chen Chiang-Ho hit a single to center field to score one more run. The brothers took a 3-1 lead and held the lead until the end.
- Lamigo's starter Zeke Spruill then settled down, and did not allow any runs until the top of the sixth when he allowed two consecutive singles to Chen Tzu-Hao and Peng Cheng-Min after issuing a two-out walk to Chang Chih-Hao. Spruill lasted six innings, allowing four runs (two of which were earned) on five hits. He also struck out five and walked two batters.
- Lamigo's bullpen did not get the job done in the latter innings. They needed five relievers to get through the rest of the three innings. The relievers faltered by allowing the Brothers to score four more runs (two of which were earned) on eight hits and two free passes.
- Lamigo made a late attempt in the bottom of the ninth when their leadoff hitter, Lan Yin-Lun, hit a bases-cleaning double to center to cut the margin to three runs. Lan's 3-double performance tied the record for most doubles in a Taiwan Series game, but by then it was too little too late. The Brothers still went home with a smile despite the drama in the last inning.
- The attendance of 19,489 broke the all-time box office in Taiwan Series. The previous record was also the same matchup between the two teams in Game 1 of the 2015 Taiwan Series.
- Tomorrow evening, Lamigo's Darin Downs takes on the Brothers' Orlando Roman.
