Chiang Chih-Hsien and Lin Chih-Sheng Succeeding Down Under

Chinatrust Brothers Lin Chih-Sheng and current free agent Chiang Chih-Hsien seem to be enjoying their time playing “winter ball” in the Australian Baseball League (ABL).

Lin has joined the Brisbane Bandits who currently sit first in the six-team league with a record of 6-1. The former CPBL MVP is currently hitting in the three-hole for the Bandits’ offense who leads the league in runs scored. Currently he is slashing .333/.406/.407 with 0 HR, 6 RBI, 8 R and 2 SB over seven games played.

Stats from ABL website

Chiang is really swinging a hot stick for his second-place Sydney Blue Sox. The former Chinatrust Brother is slashing .406/.406/.875 with 4 HR, 9 RBI, and 6 R. Chiang is currently hitting in the clean-up spot for the Blue Sox. The infielder's four home runs lead the ABL and his .406 batting average ranks him third in the league.

  1. Do many CPBL players play in the Australian Winter League each off-season, or is Chiang and Lin playing there this winter something of an anomaly?

    1. Guys of their caliber dont usually play there. Looks like they are trying to show that they are committed after some controversies surrounding Lin and Chiang in the Taiwanese media.

    2. They were naughty. They've been fired by the Elephants-Lin for a different reason than Chiang and Chang. At this juncture, Lin and Chang are probably finished in Taiwan-there is some interest in bringing back Chiang.

  2. Lin is still with the Brothers team. He has said all the right things and will play out the last year of his big contract.

Chiang Chieh-Hsien will not return with the Brothers in 2018 but will most likely sign with another CPBL club
