In his first six starts this season, Woodall has gone 4-1 with one no decision (the team won that game too), leading the league in wins thus far. His 2.97 ERA is good for third while his 28 strikeouts tie him for fifth. Woodall's 39.1 IP rank second only to teammate Mike Loree (one less start than Loree). The honor is Woodall's second time after winning pitcher of the month back in September of 2015. Woodall received 11 first place votes with Loree getting five votes in second and Lions SP Chiang Chen-Yen with two votes for third.
Last year's No. 1 overall draft pick Liao Chien-Fu ran away with hitter of the month after garnering 13 votes to teammate Lin Cheng-Fei's three votes. Wang Po-Jung and Su Chih-Chieh of the Lions tied for third with one vote each. The nineteen year-old catcher reeled in the award for the first time by crushing opposing pitchers to the tune of a .437 average and 24 RBI's, both tops in the league. Liao was in the top four in hits (36) and also added three long balls for good measure.
