- Game 5 of the Taiwan Series headed back to Taoyuan with the Monkeys leading the series 3-2 over the Lions. The Monkeys sent Michael Nix to the mound but it was their offense that won the game with a total of ten hits, including three home runs in the game. The knockout punch came in the seventh inning as the Monkeys scored six runs, including two home runs in the frame. With a final score of 10-3, Lamigo wins the 2018 Taiwan series. They have won a total of six championships and four championships in the last five years (2006、2012、2014、 2015、 2017、 2018).
- Taiwan series MVP goes to Monkeys 1B Chen Chun-Hsui. Chen collected eleven hits in five games to break the Taiwan series record. He wins the MVP award for a second consecutive year and is the third player to win back-to-back MVPs in the Taiwan series.
- Monkeys Closer Chen Yu-Hsun appeared in the ninth inning to close out the game. Tonight was his first appearance since getting hit by a comebacker to the head in Game 1 of the Series.
- Monkeys 3B Kuo Yung-Wei hit his first career Taiwan series home run during tonight’s game. Kuo has been in the league for eight years. The last time he appeared in the Taiwan series was back in 2011.
