It’s an exciting year for Brothers
fans. This offseason, Eric Wood was signed by the Brothers. The last time the Brothers signed a position player was back in 2015, when they signed both Jim
Negrych and Jaime Pedroza. Unfortunately, they were both released in the middle
of the season. Wood previously played in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league
organization for seven years. It’s his first time in his career to play
baseball overseas.
Eric wood is 26 years old and can play four different positions. “I think my strength is that I can do everything,” Wood said. “I am going to hit some home runs. I can hit for average, I could run a little bit, I will take my walks. It’s not like I am one dimensional.”
Wood is aware that CPBL pitchers likes to throw a lot of breaking balls. “They throw a lot of breaking balls in triple-A. I am used to that kind of pitching.” This will definitely help Wood adjust to this league and it's a bonus that he also like hitting breaking balls.
Since it’s his first time playing in the CPBL, everything will be a learning experience for him. He tries to learn the names of his teammates, learn a new language, and tries to be a good teammate. Wood says, “At the end of the day it’s a team sport. If we are winning, I am winning. I am not worried about myself and my own results. I'm more excited about getting to a new place and adapting to a new culture.”
